Contrary to my customs, I decided to publish these poems that I wrote recently. The Naive Love Poems were written between March and September 2020 and were released on instagram in November 2020. A year certainly marked by unusual circumstances, but with enough breathing room to write these short poems. The last one was originally written in English, for that reason I decided to include the English translations of the other two.

I

hay una puerta
por la que amanece
mi soledad
esa puerta
eres tú
intento cruzarte
y altiva me rechazas
vuelvo como amante
a implorar tu entrega
esperando tu mirada
azul como el misterio del cielo
¿dónde obtendré la fuerza
para cruzar hasta ti?
si todo el mundo cae
¿tú quedarás en pie?

II

por ti dejaría mi lengua
por ti dejaría mi patria
por tus ojos limpios
que no han visto
que el amor que va
nunca vuelve

Paradigm

if ever your love comes
I shall not say
as wise and fools do
why
two drops of rain
into one streamlet
roll down my window
why
an arrow lost
has cleft my flesh
rather than sowed
trampled and broke

if ever your love comes
I shall not say
mine
nor yours
for I sprout in your hands
under your light
you prune me
and snip me
in gentle bites
my shoots and leaves
nurture the gleam
of your calm instances of blue

if ever your love comes
I shall not say
I love you
but love
through you
in you
within you

Translations

I

there is a door
through which
my loneliness dawns
that door
is you
I try to cross you
and you haughtily reject me
I come back as a lover
to implore your surrender
waiting for your gaze
blue like the mystery of the sky
where will I get the strength
to cross to you?
If everyone falls
will you remain standing?

II

for you I would forsake my tongue
for you I would forsake my homeland
for your clean eyes
they haven’t seen
that a love that goes
never comes back
